Fitness & Body Composition In-Person or Virtual Assessments

At We Mean Fitness, we can now provide clients with a Virtual Fitness Assessment which will assess your strengths and weaknesses. As part of our comprehensive client report, we use state of the art Postural Assessment software to analyze client provided images, allowing us to identify postural alignment issues and body fat percentage.

We understand the concept of needing to know where you’re at, before you can determine how to get somewhere else – think about it. We specialize in running professional assessments ranging from Range of Movement; Flexibility; Strength; VO2Max and various body composition assessments (using Virtual Assessments or in-person Ultrasound analysis). In either case, you won’t get a small sheet of thermal paper showing a simple body fat%, but instead, you’ll receive a customized, multi-page report – suitable for presentation to your medical professional.

For in-person body composition, we use the BodyMetrix Ultrasound System – ultrasound fits within the gold standard categories along with DEXa & CT scanning for body composition testing. The benefit of ultrasound, is that it is non-invasive and does not emit any radiation (as do DEXa & CT). Ultrasound allows the BodyMetrix to detect the true internal subcutaneous fat thickness and muscle at each measurement point – all trackable over time, in millimeters (so you’ll see the changes over time on a color chart). By making measurements at multiple points on the body, an accurate body fat % can be determined. Beware the newest gym equipment fad of 3D Body Image scanners, which only measure external circumferences, and then guessimate your body fat).

Also, unlike Bio-electric Impedance Analysis (the scales you stand on and or hold onto) that is used by many large fitness facilities, ultrasound measurements are not affected by hydration, exercise level, and caffeine intake, therefore providing consistent results – nor does the BodyMetrix require you to get into your bathing suit to submerse in water (Hydrostatic testing) or feel the embarrassing pinch of body calipers. Oh and one more thing to consider, the BodyMetrix scan only takes a few minutes.
